Joan Huggard is a stained glass artisan based in Dumbo, Brooklyn.
Inspired by her work in historic restoration, she discovered an affinity for the delicate and intricate work of stained glass master Louis Comfort Tiffany. She began to hone her skills as a stained glass artist and in 1998 she launched Citybitz with a collection of hand forged jewelry and accessories inspired by New York City.
After achieving a loyal customer following for her hand made designs, Joan expanded her collection to incorporate her life-long interest in photography. This new segment of the collection features unique points of view on classic New York icons and architecture including the Chrysler Building, Empire State Building, the Brooklyn Bridge and mosaic art from favorite subway stations. The photographs are taken by Joan then meticulously curated to create one of kind accessories including cufflinks, flasks and card cases.
The ultimate compliment is that Citybitz is a “go to” resource for jaded New Yorkers who want to give a sophisticated gift that pays homage to their beloved city. The only “complaint” is that the buyer often can’t resist treating themselves to one of Joan’s iconic pieces in addition to purchasing gifts for their loved ones.
Currently Joan sells direct to customers and at select artisan markets and Pop-Up shops around New York City.
